Pakistan Forms Committee to Identify and Boycott Israel-Supporting Companies
In a significant political move, Pakistan has labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “terrorist,” accusing him of war crimes against Palestinians. This statement was made by Rana Sanaullah, an adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on political and public affairs. The announcement coincides with a deal made with the religious political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), which had organized a large sit-in protest near Islamabad, demanding the declaration of Netanyahu as a terrorist and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The Pakistani government has vowed to boycott products from companies perceived to support Israel. A committee will be established to identify such companies and products within Pakistan. “We will not only boycott Israel but all products related to it, and companies that are directly or indirectly involved in this cruelty or are helping those forces,” said Sanaullah.
In addition to the boycott, Pakistan has promised to send over 1,000 tons of relief supplies to Gaza by the end of the month. This move has been praised by Hamas, reflecting strong support for the Pakistani government’s stance.
Earlier this month, Pakistan also announced scholarships for Palestinian medical students from Gaza to continue their education in Pakistan, further solidifying its support for the Palestinian cause.
The TLP’s protest, which disrupted major routes between Islamabad and the neighboring city of Rawalpindi, concluded with the government’s commitments, marking a significant moment in Pakistan’s political and social response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
