

Jasprit Bumrah Overtakes Ravichandran Ashwin
In a significant development in the ICC Test rankings, India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the top spot, overtaking his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. Bumrah’s stellar performance in India’s recent Test match victory over Bangladesh in Kanpur, where he took six wickets, pushed his ICC rating to 870 points, edging out Ashwin by just a single point.
This marks the second time Bumrah has achieved the No. 1 bowler ranking in Tests. Ashwin, who also had a commendable showing in the same match with five wickets, is just behind him in the rankings. Despite losing his top spot, Ashwin celebrated Bumrah’s achievement with an Instagram post saying, “You belong here,” expressing his support and sportsmanship.
India Dominates Rankings After Bangladesh Sweep
India’s dominance was evident as they swept Bangladesh 2-0 in the Test series. This victory not only solidified their lead in the ICC World Test Championship standings but also saw significant movement in individual player rankings. Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal rose to third place in the Test batter rankings after his solid performances, which included scores of 72 and 51 in the second Test. Jaiswal now only trails England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson in the rankings.
Veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli also made a notable leap, moving up six places to claim the sixth spot following his contributions in the series. Kohli’s return to the top 10 signals his continued relevance in the Test arena.
International Movers: Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Gain Ground
Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya achieved a career-high seventh spot in the Test bowler rankings after his 18-wicket haul against New Zealand in the recently concluded series. Fellow Sri Lankan batters Kamindu Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, and Angelo Mathews also made significant gains, with Mendis moving up to 11th place in the batter rankings after another century.
Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan made a strong showing, moving up to 18th in the Test bowling rankings, while Shakib Al Hasan rose to 28th. Hasan’s all-round performances have also propelled him to fifth place on the Test all-rounder rankings, where India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold the top spot.
White-Ball Rankings: Steve Smith and Harry Brook Make Moves
Australia’s Steve Smith gained a spot in the ODI batter rankings, moving up to 20th, while England’s Harry Brook surged 73 places to reach 50th in the rankings after a productive series against New Zealand. Teammates Ben Duckett, Adil Rashid, and Jofra Archer also climbed in the ODI rankings, reflecting their solid recent form.
T20I Rankings: Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee Achieves Career-High
In T20 cricket, South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks moved up five places to 11th in the T20I batter rankings. Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee made headlines by rising to second place on the T20I all-rounder rankings, achieving a career-high rating and establishing himself as a key figure in Nepal’s rise in international cricket.
