This is Lion Mode
If the lion is the king of the jungle, how can he be the king of the jungle?
If he’s not the biggest—the elephant is probably one of the biggest.
He can’t be the fastest because that’s the cheetah.
He can’t be the smartest.
So he’s not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest.
So how does the lion become the king of the jungle?
His mentality.
That’s the only difference between a lion and an elephant.
When a lion walks up and sees an elephant, he thinks, lunch.
An elephant thinks, run.
And it’s all mentality.
Because when a male lion walks up, he may be outnumbered by a pack of hyenas.
But he’s king of his jungle because of his mentality.
What happens when you’re a gazelle and you’re not being pushed, you’re not being hunted, you’re not given a reward, and nobody’s encouraging you?
What happens when you’re a gazelle and the lion’s not chasing you anymore?
You stop running.
What happens when you’re a lion?
When you’re a lion, it does not make a difference.
You realize that if your family is going to eat, if that pack of lions is going to survive, then you’ve got to go hunt.
A part of being a beast isn’t just chasing a gazelle.
A part of being a beast is the hunt.
It’s the hunt that they’re excited about.
They like to see the gazelles run.
They leap, they take off.
Because real lions like the hunt.
They love the process just as much as they love the prize.
And some of y’all just want to score.
You don’t like the process.
You’re not in love with the process.
A true hunter doesn’t just want the prize.
A true hunter’s goal is to hunt.
That’s what they live for.
They live to hunt.
They don’t just live to catch the prey.
It’s the whole process.
When you are a true hunter, you don’t go by time.
You go by the gazelle.
When you are a true hunter, you hunt until you get a gazelle, and you don’t stop until you get one.
And then you get another, and then you get another, and then you get another.
If you’re going to do what you say you’re going to do, if you’re going to be what you say you’re going to be, you’ve got to be in lion mode.
If you’re in gazelle mode, you’re going to come up short.
In gazelle mode, you’ll have an average experience.
You’re just running.
But if you’re a student, I need you in lion mode.
If you’re an entrepreneur, I need you in lion mode.
If you’re trying to lose weight: lion mode.
You can’t do anything significant in gazelle mode.
Nothing.
Nothing impressive happens in gazelle mode.
Nothing happens in run mode, give-up mode, quit mode, scared mode, or fearful mode.
Nothing happens.
Everything happens in lion mode.
Like: “I’m coming to get you.”
FAQs
Why is the lion called the king of the jungle if it’s not the biggest, fastest, or smartest animal?
The lion is called the king of the jungle because of its mentality. Unlike other animals, the lion’s mindset is focused on dominance and confidence. It approaches situations with the belief that it is superior, which sets it apart.
What is the main difference between a lion and an elephant?
The main difference is mentality. When a lion sees an elephant, it thinks of it as prey (lunch), whereas the elephant sees the lion and thinks of escaping (run). This difference in mindset is what gives the lion its kingly status.
What happens when a gazelle is not being chased by a lion?
When a gazelle isn’t being chased or pressured, it stops running. It loses motivation because its actions are driven by external factors like fear or survival.
What makes a lion different from a gazelle?
A lion is driven by the need to hunt, regardless of external pressures. The lion is self-motivated and understands that its survival and the survival of its pack depend on its ability to take action. A gazelle, on the other hand, is reactive and only acts when being chased.
Why do lions enjoy the hunt?
Lions enjoy the hunt because they are in love with the process, not just the prize. For them, the chase and the effort involved in capturing their prey are just as rewarding as the end result.
